Bethesda's also kicking off a new video tutorial series to ease you into it, which you can see below. To start making your own mods, grab the Creation Kit from the Tools section of your Steam library. If you don't have Skyrim at all, you can snap it up for $39.99 (33% off) in the Steam mid-week sale.
You'll want a better PC than Skyrim's recommended specs to use it, though, with Bethesda recommending at least 4GB of system RAM and a graphics card with 1GB of RAM.
The patch jazzes up Skyrim's textures with bigger, prettier versions and as it's official, you won't have to worry about textures looking different, or resembly lumpy, over-sharp lava, as several community-made mods do. The high-resolution texture pack is actually released as free downloadable content, so you'll need to head this-a-way to get it. For now, though, it's just that lonely little space-ball. In future, the Workshop will house the mods of anyone who fancies putting them there, where they can be viewed, rated, and easily downloaded. The joint effort from Bethesda and Valve sees Portal 2's friendly little orb following you around, doubtless dispensing space-y nuggets of joy.
1 is the very first Skyrim mod on the Skyrim Steam Workshop. Valve's Chet Faliszek and Eric Wolpaw have revealed many paths that Portal 2 didn't take at a very entertaining post-mortem at the Game Developers Conference in San.
On top of that, Skyrim's on sale on Steam, down to $40.įall of the Space Core, Vol. But there's something else too-a new friend in the form of Portal 2's adorable Space Sphere. The PC release now supports an official high-resolution texture pack. Added more connection points to stairs.Bethesda had promised a surprise alongside the launch of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's PC mod Creation Kit, and it did indeed arrive today. This prevents tbeams from creeping in under the door and leeching off all your skin. Added a func_brush in the exit door that gets enabled when the door closes and disabled when the door opens. Glass no longer export their frames twice. You will now be prompted to save your work in these cases. Handle cases where the user is trying to quit the program while in the puzzlemaker. Fixed bug that was disallowing users deleting saved games through the save/load dialog. This prevents weird behavior where Undo or Redo deletes an item but the context menu for that item would remain up.
Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y dismisses the context menu if it's up. Previously, if your mouse went over an item while doing a surface selection the carat would jump to the position of the item, rather than the surface behind the item. Fixed items rendering as pickable when doing surface selection. Fixed repeatedly clicking on the same item creating redundant actions that made Undo/Redo sometimes feel like it wasn't doing anything. Fixed items sometimes staying in their exploded animation even after the context menu is dismissed. (Set cm_fix_orphaned_files to 1 to enable this). Adding solution for resolving orphaned Workshop puzzles on a user's disk. Always write the error.p2c even if the export failed. Made angled panels, stairs and piston platforms only block antlines on the surfaces they embed onto.
We now make all items update immediately after a new item is created. Fixed items having incorrect collision data immediately after creating a new chamber. Lowered brush count in the light strips from five to two. Cleaned up some of the textures the these instances as well.
Fixed two of the entrance hallway instances being a little too big and having some of their nodraw show if the voxels surrounding the entrance were void. Fixed flip panels getting activated with only 1 input activated even if there were many inputs connected. This prevents a weird bug where cubes placed on buttons next to glass would get pushed away from the glass. Made the clips for the glass/grating a little smaller so that they are a tighter fit to the actual brushes/frames that get exported. This prevents cases where the player can go through the dropper when creating portals very close to the dropper Added a player clip brush around the item dropper model.
Fixed instances where crossplay between PS3 and PC/Mac would not work. Fixed the coop ping tool getting stuck on when using a 360 controller on PC. Allow queues to be larger than 50 maps, ditto with history logs. The update will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. An update to the Portal 2 has been released.
